Briefing

02:20, transit through a narrow strait, and the bridge is arguing with itself. The chart display shows nineteen contacts converging on the vessel. Four of them are broadcasting man-overboard beacons, which the master is obliged to respond to. The radar sees open water. The position on the chart has jumped twice and the autopilot has already corrected for it. You are the technical officer. The bridge crew need to know which of their instruments to believe, and they need it before the next course alteration.
