Thirty aircraft over a populated site, and a Raspberry Pi. You cannot shoot them down. Work out what you CAN do.

Briefing

A logistics operator's inspection fleet — around thirty small multirotors — stopped answering its own control stations forty minutes ago and is now flying a pattern over a site with eleven hundred people on it. They are battery aircraft with propellers and they are at two hundred feet. Your position is a field ground station: a Raspberry Pi, a software-defined radio, a monitor-mode wifi adapter, a Bluetooth radio, a GPS puck, and the site's own LoRa concentrator, which normally collects telemetry from tank sensors across the estate. Everyone in the room wants you to bring them down from this terminal. Read that sentence again and decide what you are actually going to do, because it will shape every command that follows.

Objectives

• Make the airspace legible before you make any decisions about it
• Identify the aircraft and the operator from what they broadcast
• Find the path the commands are arriving on — and whose kit is carrying it
• Cut that path without transmitting at anybody
• Hand the airspace to the people with the authority to close it
